The UK has regained the top spot as the biggest export market for Chilean wine, after being overtaken by the USA last year.
Export figures for the year ending December 2010 released by Vinos de Chile show that the UK bought 7.2% more Chilean wine by value in 2010 than in 2009, purchasing 291,182 more cases than in the previous year. This brought it into first place with 16.7% of market share, closely followed by the USA at 16.3%.
Historically the UK has always been Chile’s best customer but the USA assumed the top slot by value in 2009. (Harpers / 7 February 2011)
