China opens up to Cahors wines

22.09.2011 - Vinexpo news selection

A Cahors wine recently achieved great success in China, when a magnum of Château de Caix 2008 was auctioned in Beijing for the unexpected price of RMB 1 million, equivalent to about €110,000. Château de Caix belongs to Prince Henrik of Denmark and has long been one of the best wines of the appellation. This was a charity sale with proceeds donated to an organisation working to help the handicapped. Clearly, this auction is an important step in the growing brand recognition of Cahors wines on the Chinese market. (Le Journal du Vin.com – 9 September 2011)
