The South African winery Leopard's Leap has just set up a joint-venture with the Chinese distributor Yangzhou Perfect, a subsidiary of Perfect Group, a distribution conglomerate, in order to import and distribute its wines in China. In the partnership agreement, Yangzhou Perfect undertakes to import and distribute 2.9 million bottles of Leopard's Leap and other brands from the same producer by June 2012.
This may seem like a tall order, since overall, the Chinese market imported a total of 3.9 million bottles of South African wines from all exporting wineries between June 2010 and June 2011 (V&S News – 16 September 2011)
