Southern France wine leader Skalli confirms development in China

02.08.2011 - Vinexpo news selection

Southern France wine producer and trader Skalli has been present on the Chinese market since 2001, introducing its pioneer range of varietal wine Fortant to the Chinese consumer. Skalli is among the founders of the successful leadership of the IGP Pays d'Oc over French varietal wines. A key player in Southern France wine exports, Skalli sells 1.4 million bottles in Asia with 34% in China (and 41% in Japan). Skalli usually relies on its partnership with one of the largest distributors on the Chinese on-trade, ASC, which allowed Fortant to be present on the wine lists of such iconic premises as the Grand Hyatt and the St. Regis in Beijing, the Shangri-La in Hong Kong and the Sens and Bund in Shanghai.
Now, Skalli is investing in the further development of its presence on the Chinese market, introducing its leading Côtes du Rhône brand, Caves Saint-Pierre, this time in an exclusive partnership with Carlico International. Carlico International is based in Hong Kong and will ensure Skalli's Caves Saint-Pierre a strong presence in about a hundred major Chinese cities, as of autumn 2011. (Wine Alley – 26 August 2011)
