China: Spirits consumption expected to slow down between 2010 and 2014

15.03.2011 - Vinexpo news selection

While Chinese spirits consumption grew by 52% between 2005 and 2009, volumes should increase a lot less between 2010 and 2014. The VINEXPO study forecasts growth of 3.8% in volumes in the next 5 years.
Although China is a small market for tequila, between 2005 and 2009, growth in the consumption of this spirit was the highest at 163.5%.
It is mainly the consumption of local spirits, such as baiju, which is expected to level out, while that of scotch, other liqueurs and cognac should continue to increase. (VINEXPO - The iwsr / 21 February 2011)
