The consumption of imported wine in Shanghai has reached 500,000 hl in the first ten months of 2010, which increased by 40% year - on – year. Wu Jian- ping, the secretary – general of Shanghai Drinks Association, said that in terms of case volume,
imports from Italy gained 240% year on year.
Wu said the imported wine boom in Shanghai helped partly by World Expo year and the increasing consumer interest in fine wines. (China Wine Online / 20 November 2010)
