Premium cognac sales are increasing. Top quality brands now account for 54.5% (equivalent to 83.4 million bottles) of the world market. Old cognacs reached 20.8 million bottles sold, up 36.6%, while the VSOPs grew 27%, reaching 62.6 million bottles. The VS and three star categories found it harder to progress with growth of 6.6% or 69.7 million bottles. (Décision Boissons - 21 January 2011)
