In 2010, China became the 3rd largest importer of barrels for Seguin Moreau after France and the US. Although the volumes remain small at the moment – less than 10, 000 casks were purchased by the Chinese last year – they are constantly growing for Seguin Moreau, who is the leading barrel supplier to the Chinese market, where 4% of all wines are aged in wood, compared to less than 2% in the rest of the world.
2011 should continue on the same trend: Seguin Moreau’s main customers Chang-Yu, Cofco and Suntime are building new ageing cellars. (VSB / 10 December 2010)
