Spirits consumption in the Netherlands decreased by 388,000 cases between 2005 and 2009, a drop of 5.03%, and according to the forecasts in the VINEXPO study, it should fall a further 0.39% between 2010 and 2014.
Only bourbon, up 36.86% between 2005 and 2009, and vodka, up 27.97%, are gaining ground, while the liqueurs, which have the majority share in Holland, steadily lose popularity. Gin too, of which the Dutch are the 6th most prolific drinkers in the world, is also on the decrease, down 19.76% between 2005 and 2009. (VINEXPO - The iwsr / 7 March 2011)
