L’Ecole du Vin de France has already been active in Hong Kong for a year providing consulting services to distributors and hotel groups. It has recently decided to go further by offering training for the general public and trade professionals. The courses offered will aim to teach tasting skills and build participants’ knowledge of the French winegrowing regions. The idea also includes reaching business audiences by offering oenological dinners.
For Olivier Thiénot the founder and director of this school, Hong Kong is a “key Asian trade hub for wine and its credibility. In two weeks our first training session begins in partnership with the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hong Kong and all the places have already been filled”.
The courses will be delivered in English and Cantonese in rooms especially rented for the purpose. The School is seriously considering opening its own premises, perhaps in partnership with a hotel or cuisine school. (LeMoci.com – 26 September 2011)
