The Far East is a few thousand bottles away from accounting for one third of worldwide cognac sales. 50.9 million bottles out of total production of 153 million, were exported to Asia in 2010, an increase in volume of 34.3%.
The NAFTA region, despite a flourishing market in the U.S. has been left behind with its 49.2 million bottles, which nevertheless represents an increase of 7.5%. Europe recovered well and grew 11.7% to reach 46.7 million bottles, while sales to other countries rose by 43.5% to reach 6.3 million bottles. (Décision Boissons - 21 January 2011)
