Caiarossa, a Tuscan wine crafted in feng shui conditions

15.11.2010 - Vinexpo news selection

Caiarossa, even if it is made in the heart of Italy, is not a Tuscan wine like the others. It is crafted in a cellar built according to the principles of feng shui, a Chinese ancestral art, which seeks to organise living environments for better well-being and harmony. Dominique Génot, the Caiarossa winegrower and oenologist explains that this model is “completely different from biodynamics but complementary. Feng shui has been used so we feel as well as possible when working in the cellar with large spaces and lots of natural light”.
This 16-hectare (391/2-acre) estate, acquired in 2004 by Eric Albada Jelgersma, who also owns two great Bordeaux domains (Château Giscours and Château du Tertre), produces about 70,000 bottles of red wine, 70% of which goes for export. (AFP – Vinexpo / 8 October 2010)
