Between January and July 2011, Chile exported 7,987 hectolitres of wine to Vietnam, worth €2.5 million, an 11.2% increase in volume equivalent to 20.3% more value. Chilean wines have thus exceeded the volumes of French wine exports to Vietnam, which only reached 7,286 hectolitres, although the French leadership in value was maintained at €3.41 million for the period. It is expected that Chilean wines will continue to widen the gap in coming months after the signing of a free-trade agreement between Santiago and Hanoi. (V&SNews – 30 September 2011)
