Germany: Wine consumption levels out

Between 2005 and 2009, overall wine consumption of both domestic and imported wines in Germany decreased by 0.66%, down 1.867 million 9-litre cases. The decrease came in 2008 (down 1%) and 2009 (down 1.2%) after a 1.5% increase in consumption between 2005 and 2007.
In 2010, the volumes of wines consumed appeared to stabilise, losing only 0.17%, and according to the VINEXPO forecasts, German wine consumption should return to growth of 0.47% between 2010 and 2014.
German annual per capita consumption of wine amongst of-age adults is levelling out at 37.8 litres. (VINEXPO - The iwsr / 7 March 2011)
