Italy is the largest market worldwide for wines sold for less than US$5 (€3.59) per bottle, but only the 8th largest market for wines sold at prices between US$5 (€3.59) and US$10 (€7.19) per bottle. It is the 6th largest market for wines priced more than US$10 (€7.19) per bottle.
However between 2009 and 2014, the VINEXPO study forecasts a 2.7% decrease in the volumes consumed of wine sold for less than US$5 (€3.59) per bottle, while those priced between US$5 (€3.59) and US$10 (€7.19) per bottle are expected to increase by 10.5%. (VINEXPO - The iwsr / 15 March 2011)
