Tesco withdraws from the Japanese market

The leading British supermarket chain has decided to withdraw from the Japanese market by putting its local subsidiary up for sale, eight years after launching operations there.
Tesco’s objective is to focus mainly on its other Asian businesses that have higher potential.
Tesco had 129 small points of sale in the greater Tokyo area. (VSB – 9 September 2011)
