According to The Economic Times India, wine sales in New Delhi have grown by 41% over the last six months. 25,064 cases of wine were sold in the period, compared to 17,722 in the same timeframe in 2010.
The city has 450 restaurants, 356 outlets controlled by the State of New Delhi and 89 independent shops, where wine can be purchased or consumed.
64 brands of wine are present on this market, including imported wines.
India’s total area of vines accounts for 1% of the worldwide total and 6% of all the vines in Asia. (VSB – 18 November 2011)
