The US Supreme Court has just rejected a request from American wine retailers to allow direct shipping of bottles of wine to their customers, wherever they are in the country. At present, only shipments between two states that produce wine are authorised. The distributors’ associations welcomed the decision, which protects their markets, but the wine retailers’ counsel made it known that the battle was far from over. (V&S News - 31 March 2011)
