In 2009, Canadians drank 16.7 million cases of spirits, up 7% since 2005. They are expected to increase their consumption by a further 4% between 2010 and 2014.
After the so-called “local” spirits, vodka is the Canadians’ most popular spirit. Vodka consumption reached 4.6 million cases in 2010.
Vodka, Tequila and Bourbon have increased in popularity the most, while Scotch and the brandies regularly lose ground. (VINEXPO-The iwsr / 4 February 2011)
