The volumes of spirits consumed in Hong Kong dropped by 3.1% in 5 years. The products primarily impacted were local rice-based beverages.
In the same period, vodka consumption increased by 45% and that of tequila by 51%.
The Hongkongese drink an average of 2.08 litres of spirits per person per year.
The VINEXPO study forecasts a return to growth in spirits consumption in Hong Kong between 2010 and 2014, when volumes should increase by 4.9%. (VINEXPO - The iwsr / 21 February 2011)
