South Korea has one of the highest per capita consumption of spirits per year in the world. Total consumption reached 150 million 9-litre cases in 2008, almost 45 times that of wine and up 10.4% compared to 2004.
According to the Vinexpo / The IWSR study, however, spirits consumption should only grow by a further 1.2% between 2009 and 2013, an increase of nearly 10 million cases. (Vinexpo – The IWSR / 4 November 2010)
