Between 2005 and 2009, U.S. red wine consumption rose by 14% and should increase by a further 13.6% between 2010 and 2014.
This growth is faster than that of white wines, which amounted to 6% between 2005 and 2009.
It should be noted however that red wine consumption in the U.S. accounts for 45% of all wines consumed there. The share of red wine in worldwide volumes consumed is 54% and 61% in Canada. (VINEXPO / The iwsr – 9 February 2011)
