Quebec Liquor Board (SAQ) could take foothold in the US

21.04.2011 - Vinexpo news selection

The Quebec Liquor Board (SAQ) is apparently in the late stages of discussions concerning the acquisition of the American on-line wine distributor JJ Buckley. This would enable SAQ to sell wine in most of the American states, using the permits held by JJ Buckley. If the transaction goes through, SAQ would be able to offer its suppliers a platform for on-line sales in the US in addition to its sales in Quebec. Founded in 1999 in San Francisco by a tax lawyer, the JJ Buckley website boasts a yearly sales turnover of US$26 million. (Vitisphère - 6 April 2011)
