Between 2005 and 2009, Dutch wine consumption grew by 7.20%, up 2.889 million cases to reach a total of 42.877 million cases or 514.524 million bottles.
This increase in the volume of wine consumed positions the Netherlands behind UK and Sweden in the 2005 to 2009 league table for growth in wine consumption.
This regular growth should continue according to the VINEXPO study with an increase between 2010 and 2014 of 6.45%. Dutch spirits consumption on the other hand fell by 5.03% between 2005 and 2009. (VINEXPO - The iwsr / 7 March 2011)
